NEW YORK's subway, London’s underground and Seoul’s metro all have things in common. They’re bigger than the subway system in Tokyo - they all have more stations and extend over greater distances. But Tokyo is far and away the world’s largest city. It dwarfs the others and it's now home to more than 37 million people.
The word subway is generally used for underground, but it is also used to refer to the underground complexes used by pedestrians. In New York, the locals seem to be confused between the Metro and Subway. But London’s subway system is always referred to the tube. Sometimes London’s subway system is also called Rapid Transit as well.
Singapore’s subway system or the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) is the most convenient way for travelers to get around cheaply and easily. Hopping on the MRT lets you avoid traffic jams, though platforms can get quite crowded during the morning and evening rush hours. Navigating the MRT is quite straightforward for anyone used to a city metro.
