Ford appeared for the first time in Rallys since 1973, either officially or through a private team. Their first car was a Ford Escort, then in the 80s with a Ford RS200 in the Group B era, then in the 90s they returned with the Escort and finally in 1999 they debuted with their new car fresh from the factory: the Ford Focus WRC.
